Pewter

Carrol Boyes uses a special pewter alloy that contains antimony, copper and tin as opposed to traditional pewter alloys containing lead. Pewter is an attractive alloy as it is shiny and bright and looks like silver. Our cast and hand-finished pewter products have a soft and warm aesthetic. As pewter has increased substantially in value over the last few years, pewter has become a popular collector preference as it is a premium product.

 

General Care

Handwash in warm soapy water, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft and clean cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals, detergents and scouring. Do not place in dishwasher. Clean with pewter cream and a polishing cloth. Professional mechanical polishing service available at Carrol Boyes

Aluminium

Carrol Boyes makes use of different methods of aluminium, namely cast, spun, nickel-plated and chrome-plated aluminium. The properties of aluminium are appealing as it is strong but light and can be polished to a high shine with a cool silvery colour.

 

General Care

Stainless Steel

Carrol Boyes uses a high-chromium 18/8 alloy for our cutlery which means it is 18% chromium and 8% nickel. This alloy is of high quality and is dishwasher safe making this product highly sought after for its easy care, use and corrosion-resistant properties.

Porcelain / Fine or New Bone China

Porcelain is a ceramic used to create beautiful tableware as it is not only strong but has a white hue which can be finished in different ways. Porcelain that contains bone ash is known as Fine Bone China. White ceramics vary slightly in the warmth of the hue. New Bone China contains calcium oxide instead of bone which makes it vegan friendly.

 

General Care

Hand Blown Glass

Hand blown glass is also known as mouth-blown glass and is created by highly skilled craftsmen. Even when moulds are used for multiple items or sets, each individual piece will still differ slightly as they are handmade.
